Music has always been one of the driving forces behind Defunkt's life.

A veteran of the Midwest rave scene, he began his DJ career in 1998 with house parties, after-hours club appearances, and underground parties throughout the Midwest. Early on he discovered the hard UK sounds of artists such as Karim, Captain Tinrib, OD404, & RR Fierce. Regarded by some to be one of the originators of the UK hard style in the Midwest, Defunkt helped jump-start the UK Hardhouse/Hard Dance scene in the region. He has continued to assault dance floors across the nation with his signature blend of hard, dark NRG, trance, and techno.

Today Defunkt's sound has matured and expanded, as he focuses on driving progressive/electro house. The juxtaposition of melding the subtlety of progressive arrangements with edgier driving sounds keeps his crowds rocking late into the night.

His on-stage energy and persona are a sight to behold. Not content to merely DJ, Defunkt's obsession lies with making his audience not only enjoy their experience, but to feel the music as much as he does. Classically trained with the violin for over a decade, he is no stranger to evoking emotions through music. His love for the music is obvious through his energy, and he has a natural talent for creating driving mixes while exciting the crowd with his antics.

Booked all over the Midwest from Kansas City to Toronto, Defunkt still never passes up spinning a party - be it a 50 person house party or a 3,000 person festival. He has headlined with many respected names in the electronic music scene such as Mark EG, Paul Anthony, D.A.V.E. the Drummer, Darude, Angel Alanis, and many others.
